Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' (oregano 'Herrenhausen') is a member of the Lamiaceae family. This culinary herb exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterised by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy (very cold winter [-20 to -15ºc]) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe, with many plants grown in containers becoming damaged unless given protection. It features a foliage fragrance.
When fully mature, Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers a south–facing aspect and an exposed position. It thrives best in chalk, loam, or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
