Prunus x yedoensis (Yoshino cherry) is a member of the Rosaceae family. This tree is characterised by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy (very cold winter [-20 to -15ºc]) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe, with many plants grown in containers becoming damaged unless given protection.

When fully mature, Prunus x yedoensis can reach an ultimate height of over 12 metres and a spread of wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers a south–facing or west–facing aspect and an exposed or sheltered position. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam, or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
