Product description & Growing guide

Myrtus communis ssp. tarentina is a member of the Primulaceae family. This evergreen shrub exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterised by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy (very cold winter [-20 to -15ºc]) and is hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe, with many plants grown in containers becoming damaged unless given protection.

When fully mature, Myrtus communis ssp. tarentina can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 m and a spread of 0.1–0.5 m. For optimal growth, it prefers an east–facing, south–facing, or west–facing aspect and a sheltered position. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam, or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun or partial shade.
