Baptisia australis (blue false indigo) is a member of the Fabaceae family. This perennial exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterised by its deciduous foliage.
When fully mature, Baptisia australis can reach an ultimate height of 1–1.5 metres and a spread of 0.5–1 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers a south–facing, west–facing, or east–facing aspect and an exposed position. It thrives best in loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
