Azalea 'Alaska' (canna 'Alaska') is a member of the Cannaceae family. This evergreen shrub exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterised by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of half-hardy (unheated glasshouse/mild winter [-5 to 1ºc]) and is hardy in coastal/mild areas except in hard winters, though it is at risk from sudden (early) frosts. May be hardy elsewhere with wall shelter or good microclimate and can survive with artificial winter protection.
When fully mature, Azalea 'Alaska' can reach an ultimate height of 1–1.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers a south–facing or west–facing aspect and a sheltered position. It thrives best in loam or sand soil types and should be placed in full sun.
